Call for Editors - Knowledge Management Research & Practice (KMRP)

The Operational Research Society is inviting interested candidates to submit a 2-page letter and a CV for consideration to join the editorial team for the Society's journal, Knowledge Management Research & Practice (KMRP).

KMRP publishes high-quality research that explores how knowledge is created, shared, and applied across organisational, societal, and community contexts. The journal addresses diverse topics, such as intellectual capital, fostering knowledge management (KM) mindsets, social dimensions of KM, and strategies for knowledge retention and cultural heritage preservation.

The journal is currently co-edited by Professor Tom Jackson, Loughborough University, UK, and Professor Antti Lönnqvist, Tampere University, Finland. To strengthen the journal’s editorial capacity, we are seeking two Editors to join the team, reporting to Professor Lönnqvist as Editor-in-Chief. The new Editors will begin on 1 June 2025, with a handover period planned.

Role and Responsibilities
The incoming Editors will work closely with Professor Lönnqvist and the growing team of five Associate Editors. The role involves:
· Providing strategic leadership and guiding the journal's direction.
· Overseeing the editorial process to maintain high standards of academic rigor.
· Shaping the journal's content and identifying emerging research trends.
· Collaborating with the Editorial Board and engaging the research community.
· Representing the journal at events and promoting its global reach.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
· Have a strong academic record in knowledge management or related fields.
· Demonstrate experience in academic publishing, preferably in an editorial role.
· Show a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and fostering interdisciplinary research.
· Have innovative ideas for expanding the journal's scope and influence.

Terms and Application Process
The appointment is for an initial five-year term, with the possibility of renewal. An honorarium is provided for the role.

To apply, please send a 2-page motivation letter and a CV to Carol McLaughlin, Head of Professional Services ([email protected]). The deadline for expressions of interest is 31 March.

Diverse representation within our editorial teams is essential to ensure a wide range of perspectives. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally recognised journal and shape the future of knowledge management scholarship.
