The Operational Research Society invites applications from qualified individuals to join the Journal of Business Analytics (JBA) editorial team.
Established in 2018, the Journal of Business Analytics (JBA) focuses on disseminating knowledge on new insights and a holistic understanding of an organisation's business environment. The journal aims to support timely, data-driven, evidence-based decision-making, enabling organisations to innovate, adapt, and grow in today's complex landscape.
JBA covers the full spectrum of business analytics, encompassing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, to support and drive impactful decisions that create value across diverse business contexts. It serves a rapidly growing community of business analytics academics and practitioners by publishing innovative, high-quality research grounded in real-world applications.
The current editorial team includes Professor Dursun Delen (Oklahoma State University, USA). Professor Sudha Ram (The University of Arizona, USA) and Professor Emeritus Richard Vidgen (University of New South Wales, Australia & University of Hull, UK). They are supported by over twenty associate editors worldwide.

Richard Vidgen will step down in June 2025, concluding his term. The Operational Research Society is now seeking a new Editor to join the team, with the role commencing on 1 May 2025.
Under JBA's new editorial succession model, the new editor will transition to the role of editor-in-chief after three years when the current Editors-in-chief have completed their term. This approach ensures continuity and a smooth handover between leadership roles.
The selected editor should be an internationally recognised scholar in business analytics or a closely related field, be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the JBA's aims and objectives and have constructive ideas on its future development to meet the challenges and needs of the subject and the Society in the current era of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and analytics. Ideally, be based in Europe (to enhance the geographical balance of the editorial team).
The appointment is for an initial period of five years, potentially renewable beyond that.
The role includes collaborating with the existing editorial team and Associate Editors and managing submissions through ScholarOne, the journal's online submission system. The new editor will receive support during the transition period to ensure a smooth onboarding process. An honorarium is paid to the editor.
