Evaluating SHP’s Opportunities Programme

The Approach

  • The analyst undertook a scoping exercise to help SHP define the purpose of the new evaluation framework, the key questions it should answer, and the resource constraints affecting its implementation.
  • The analyst explored SHP’s existing data collection processes which utilise an ‘outcome star’ tool, and carried out a literature search to identify best practice in using this type of information.

The Client

SHP (originally Single Homelessness Project) are a London-based charity who provide a range of support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness

The Client's Problem

SHP required a robust, deliverable evaluation framework to enable them to build an evidence base on the impact of their Opportunities Programme to support future funding applications

The Solution

The analyst used SHP's existing data to develop a methodology which would enable SHP to use their existing data to understand the impact of the Opportunities Programme, explore potential avenues for improvements to its delivery, and demonstrate its value when applying for funding

The Benefits

SHP were pleased with the outcome and immediately began exploring options for putting the recommendations into practice
