The Operational Research (OR) Society warmly invites you to attend the 43rd International Symposium of Military Operational Research (ISMOR). This renowned event is the ideal forum for analysts, military personnel, and academics to refine their skills, exchange ideas, showcase advancements, and forge connections within the global Military OR community.

This year, ISMOR will feature an expanded programme offering diverse opportunities for engagement, including panel discussions, forums, seminars, focus groups, demonstrations, and training sessions.

Guidelines for Applying for the ISMOR Bursary Fund (Closed for 2026)

The OR Society is pleased to offer bursaries to support junior analysts in attending future ISMOR events.
To apply, please follow the steps below:

Eligibility

Applicants should be early-career analysts (typically within the first five years of their career) or current postgraduate students with a strong interest in operational research, data science & analytics within the defence sector.

Application Process

Submit a short-written application (maximum 500 words) including:

  • A brief introduction to your background and current role/studies
  • Why you are interested in attending ISMOR
  • How attending ISMOR would benefit your development An estimate of the costs you are seeking support for (e.g., travel, accommodation, registration)

A maximum of £500 per bursary will be awarded.

Submission

Applications should be sent by email to [email protected], with the subject line “ISMOR Bursary Application – [Your Name/ISMOR Bursary]”.

Deadline

Applications must be submitted 12 weeks before the ISMOR conference. ( Closed for 2026)

Selection

Applications will be reviewed by the current Chair of ISMOR and the Chair of the Defence Special Interest Group. Successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the deadline.
