This page describes the latest version of the Operational Research Specialist standard (version 1.1), which came into force in September 2024.

Operational Research Specialists work with their clients and other interested parties to provide an end-to-end service from diagnosing and analysing a problem to making recommendations for change and supporting implementation.

EPA Components

To achieve their EPA, Operational Research Specialist apprentices must achieve a pass or above in each of the following three components:

  • Work-based project report with presentation
  • Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
  • Test
