Qualifications and experience

Most OR professionals hold degrees in  numerate subjects such as mathematics, statistics, engineering or data science.  However, since OR is an interdisciplinary field, individuals from other academic backgrounds with strong problem-solving and analytical skills can  also enter the profession.

Students can gain OR experience through placement years, summer internships and research projects within government or industry. If you are studying a numerate degree at university, consider signing up for a subsidised membership to access valuable resources, networking opportunities, and career support.
