Programme:
My OR Fast Stream Journey: Lessons from Health, Justice and Beyond: Anouska Long (Ministry of Justice)
Over the past two years, I have worked as a Government Operational Research Fast Streamer across the Department of Health and Social Care and the Ministry of Justice. In this session, I will reflect on the projects I have worked on, from supporting Mental Health Act reform to analysing Violence Against Women and Girls across the criminal justice system, and share the key lessons I have learned along the way.
I will discuss how my understanding of Operational Research has evolved, the importance of problem structuring and stakeholder engagement, and how I have developed beyond my day job through cross-government networks, learning initiatives, hackathons and the New2OR community. The session will also include practical advice for making the most of Fast Stream placements and wider development opportunities.
